1st XI - Introduction
Weston Colville 1st XI are currently playing in Division 2 of the Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Premier Cricket League sponsored by the Tucker Gardner Partnership. They finished In mid-table in season 2007, a good performance since the club had lost some key players from 2006.
There are 12 teams in the division making for a very full fixture list commencing on Saturday 19 April through to Saturday 13 September. Games commence at 13.30 and consist of 96 overs.
The team is well balanced, led by experienced Captain Adrian (Ade) Westley and his Vice-Captain Andy Brightmore who have both being playing cricket for the village for many years. We have some exciting younger players in Jake Smith, Joe Robins and Will Young, who all performed well in the 2007 season, with Peter Bragg on the verge of 1st team cricket. Players are drawn from surrounding villages, some from neighbouring Suffolk. Various players have represented teams at county level over the years.
Squad members have been at indoor nets at the Leys School in Cambridge on Monday evenings since February sharpening their technique for the new campaign. Nets are for all team members and the club is keen to see players progressing from junior teams through the second team and hopefully into the first team in due course.
The 1st team has a band of loyal supporters who have adopted their own corner of the home ground and who travel to away games. Two of them, Bert Westley and Martin Taylor, support first team player Trevor Westley in maintaining the ground and wicket which is widely recognised as one of the best in the county.

npower Village Cup
The 1stXI will again be entering the npower Village Cup this year. Our first round match in the Cambs and Norfolk group is at home to Fordham on Sunday 18 May. Click here to see a list of fixtures.
