U13 - Introduction
With 11 teams in the U13 League this year it promises to be a busy summer. Our 2010 league season will include matches against Abington, Ashwell, Foxton, Little Shelford, Linton Village, Saffron Walden, Sawston, Reed, Royston and Thriplow & Whittlesford. Details of the league fixture dates are given above. Unless otherwise advised matches will start at 1800hrs prompt. In addition, two pre-season friendly matches have been arranged against local clubs Abington and Linton, we have been drawn away to Thriplow & Whittlesford in Round 1 of the U13 Cup competition and we have our annual match against a Dutch touring team in July.
Our winter coaching programme has been well attended with the majority of squad members having had the opportunity to experience a wide range of cricket drills, batting against a bowling machine, bowling and batting video analysis sessions and feedback from Coaches.
Friday night coaching will continue throughout the summer starting at 18:30hrs.
Players (boys and girls) are drawn from a variety of villages around Weston Colville, e.g. Balsham, Linton, Withersfield, West Wratting. For any parents reading this article please note that Weston Colville is a Cambridgeshire focus club. This means that children in our catchment area who may not have a club to play or practice at are directed towards us via the work done in the local schools by the Cambridgeshire Cricket Board. For our part we are required to maintain certain standards of care towards all members and to have a welfare officer, qualified coaches and procedures in place to support our status as a focus club. We are accredited to Clubmark, the national standard for duty of care to young players.
